Hilary RussellAssociate Solicitor
Hilary is based at our Geelong office and has practised as a criminal lawyer for several years. Most recently, Hilary practised as a Senior Lawyer at Victorian Aboriginal Legal Services (VALS) and is passionate about representing clients with complex social and mental health issues. Hilary is known for her ongoing dedication to our clients – she listens to her clients and gathers a deep understanding of their social, economic and health circumstances to achieve the best outcome for them. Hilary is experienced in all criminal law jurisdictions, including the Koori and Children’s Court. Previously Hilary was General Manager at the Attorney General’s Department in Canberra and as such also brings a wealth of experience in legal policy to Gallant Law.
Gemma CalgaroAssociate Solicitor
Gemma is an exceptional solicitor and advocate and regularly appears on behalf of Gallant Law clients in the Magistrates’ Court, County Court and Supreme Court jurisdictions. With several years of experience as a lawyer, including volunteering at the North Australian Aboriginal Family Violence Legal Service, Gemma is highly qualified in criminal law, regulatory offences, Royal Commission and other quasi-criminal cases. Gemma is incredibly compassionate and committed to defending and advancing the interests of all our clients.
Elizabeth NickollsSenior Legal Consultant
Reputed to be the first female Solicitor in the Western District of Victoria in the 1970’s, Liz started her own practice in 1997 and has practiced exclusively in Criminal Law ever since. Liz brings a wealth of legal experience and knowledge to the Gallant Law team and regularly appears on behalf of our clients in all courts across Victoria. Liz possesses exemplary legal analysis and negotiations skills and relies on these talents to achieve the best outcomes for our clients. Liz is incredibly kind and a renown human rights advocate. Throughout her career as a lawyer she has also worked at the University of Melbourne, as Managing Solicitor of the Court Advocacy Unit, DHHS, and as a Foster Carer of vulnerable youths.
